Ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's official inauguration on Jan. 20, President Barack Obama is reportedly preparing to throw one hell of a White House banger. The Washington Post reports that "a person with knowledge of the marquee affair" has let slip that President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama plan to host a score of A-list celebrities, among them Jay Z, Beyoncé, and Oprah.
"Old standbys such as singer Usher and actor Samuel L. Jackson will most likely be there, according to another person with knowledge of the invitees," according to the Post. "Also currently practicing their sweet moves are media titan Oprah Winfrey [...] actor Bradley Cooper, who showed up to the French state dinner sans underpants; Beyoncé, who sang at both of Obama’s inaugurations, and her husband, rapper Jay Z, are both whispered to be performing. We’re also hearing that Stevie Wonder, who has performed at the White House, director J.J. Abrams and director George Lucas make the list."
As the Post points out, the Obamas confirmed in a December interview with People that they would indeed be hosting a final White House party—and they most certainly know how to throw one. Frank Ocean was among the attendees at the White House State Dinner in 2016. Ava DuVernay and Stephen Colbert attended Obama's birthday party. And lest we've somehow forgotten, Obama through a music festival right in his own yard and called it South by South Lawn, which included artists Chance the Rapper, Cashmere Cat, and Mac Miller.
It wouldn't be like the Obamas to go out any other way.
