President Obama warned in a stern speech Saturday night he will take it as a “personal insult” if African-American voters don’t come out strong for Clinton come November.
“I will consider it a personal insult, an insult to my legacy if this community lets down its guard and fails to activate itself in this election,” Obama admonished at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation gala.
“You want to give me a good send-off? Go vote...Don’t just watch (Michelle and me) walk off into the sunset now. Get people registered to vote.”
Speaking at the gala for the final time of his presidency, Obama said that even though he’s not running, he sees a personal stake in the polls this year.
“My name may not be on the ballot, but our progress is on the ballot,” he told the Washington D.C. crowd.
“Tolerance is on the ballot. Democracy is on the ballot...Hope is on the ballot, and fear is on the ballot too.”
