“Part true-crime murder mystery and part hip-hop drama.” That’s how BET describes the next limited series on its production slate: Death Row Chronicles.
Comprised of six one-hour episodes, Death Row Chronicles will provide an unvarnished look at the rise, fall and musical/cultural legacy of the indie label powerhouse.
At one point, Death Row -- co-founded by Suge Knight in 1991 -- boasted an enviable roster that included 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg, among others.
Knight has been in jail since 2015, charged with murder. His trial date was recently set for Jan. 8, 2018.
Production on Death Row Chronicles is set to begin this spring with a targeted air date of summer 2018. The documentary series is being produced by Entertainment One (eOne) and Creature Films. Earlier this year, BET scored a ratings hit with its three-part biopic The New Edition Story.
