An HIV-positive Waterford man was charged with six felonies after six women told police the man repeatedly had unprotected sex with them after saying he was "clean." At least one of the women has now tested positive.

Jason Taufner, 42, faces six counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, all as a habitual, repeat offender. He had been convicted of similar charges in other counties more than a decade ago.

According to the criminal complaint, Taufner was investigated on similar charges in Jefferson County in 2006 and admitted he was HIV-positive. He was convicted and sentenced to prison and released in 2015 on extended supervision.

Working as a tattoo artist, he met his victims in 2017 and 2018 at Trust Tattoo in Milwaukee and Sacred Skin in West Allis. A woman identified only as Victim 1 lived with Taufner for more than a year, until October.

She told investigators she confronted Taufner once after hearing from one of his ex-girlfriends that he was HIV positive, but Taufner accused the other woman of lying to seek revenge and again denied his condition.

Five other women told West Allis police they, too, had on-and-off sexual relationships with Taufner between July 2017 and October 2018. One was a client who got multiple tattoos from Taufner. One was a fellow tattoo artist. They described having sex with Taufner at a motel, at one victim's apartment, in his car and in a back room at Sacred Skin. They described his many tattoos, including one on his penis.

A woman who answered the phone at Sacred Skin hung up on a reporter inquiring about Taufner.
