Memphis resident Leimome Cheeks was arrested over the weekend for forcing her black grandchildren to ride in dog kennels in the trunk of her car as she drove around Memphis running errands. Cheeks told investigators that there was not enough room in the car for the children to sit, so she forced them into these cramped cages. Investigators found that there were no air conditioning vents in the trunk area of her truck and the temperature inside the kennels had reached a sweltering 95 degrees. The two children, 7 and 8 years old, rode in these kennels for almost an hour until an unidentified citizen recorded a video and sent it to police.

Cheeks is out on bail but is due in court today.
