Did Jay Z's Date With Aaliyah Cause The Downfall Of Roc-A-Fella Records With Dame Dash?

Fans have always wondered what happened between Jay Z and Dame Dash that caused the end of their friendship and killed Roc-A-Fella Records. There have always been reports that the reason behind the fallout was Jay Z taking Aaliyah out on a date while she was involved with Dame Dash. 

The love triangle was never actually confirmed or denied until Dash spoke about his relationship with the late singer, admitting that Jay knew Aaliyah before he did.

He said, "I was going at her, and Jay was going at her. He knew her before I did." There were photos of Hova and Aaliyah looking pretty cozy, which now makes sense.

Things became tense when Dame began dating Aaliyah and Jay Z took her as his date to a wedding. That was pretty much the end of their friendship.

Dame previously explained that Aaliyah tried to give guys a shot. He said, "It was just a situation where Aaliyah was the type of girl that would give you a shot. She didn’t care what people thought or whatever. So, she’ll date you and be your friend. You might end up in the friend zone. A lot of times, that’s what happened. You weren’t just going to hit that. At least in my experience. Somebody may have had a different experience at a different time in her life."

Dash and Aaliyah began dating in 2000 after being friends for some time first. He admits he was a little worried about Jay. He explained, "We developed a real friendship before [dating], but there was always apprehension because other people would try to get at her first. So I had to, but then it was just like, ‘F*ck it.'"

Dame and Aaliyah were still in a relationship when the singer was tragically killed in a plane crash in 2001. Dash later reconnected with his former flame, designer Rachel Roy. And Jay found his match in the stunner Beyonce Knowles.
