Master P to Birdman And Lil Wayne: 'Everyone Should Leave Happy"

Master P to Birdman And Lil Wayne Everyone Should Leave Happy
Date Posted: Monday, October 17th, 2016

Lil Wayne isn't dropping new music, but he is offering fans his new memoir Gone 'Til November, and sharing his thoughts on everything from Colin Kaepernick looking a bit underweight, to Donald and Hillary turning the election into a "hip-hop beef." And he would know: Weezy is in the midst of a long-running battle with Birdman that he said feels worse than being on Rikers Island.

But another New Orleans legend, who is familiar with both parties, gave his take on the Cash Money vs. Young Money saga.

Master P on his contribution to Solange's new album, "A Seat at the Table"

"I know Birdman and I know Lil Wayne. I feel like, they made money together," Master P explained. "It's like going through a divorce: It was hard for me getting out of my divorce with my wife, but when it comes to love you can't let money get in the way. So you gotta go back to that love and that passion that y'all had for each other and say, "You know what? Let's make sure everybody happy' and leave happy knowing that you not gon' be with this person again."

The No Limit Records founder went on to say that despite Wayne's talent, his career is at such a crossroads right now that without the proper coach it could be over. P compares Wayne's situation to Snoop Dogg's back in 1998 when Death Row was falling apart.

"If I was starting a label over right now, like, just from scratch, I figure if the Lil Wayne and Birdman thing didn't work out — I know it's crazy — but I'll probably sign Lil Wayne because I feel like he's in that position Snoop Dogg was in when I signed Snoop from Death Row," he said. "Like, people done gave up on him but he was still was the most talented person I ever met at that time ... I feel like Lil Wayne is worth so much money with the right coach. With the wrong coach I think his career might be over."
