Snoop s Youth Football League To Be Featured On AOL Reality Show

10 years ago Long Beach, CA rap icon Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus, also infamously known for beating a murder case at the beginning of his professional rap career and his love for weed, was the last person most would think of as spending time mentoring kids.

Snoop Dogg did just that, taking his love and influence of sports he started his Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL), which is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded to provide the opportunity for inner-city children to participate in youth football and cheer.

10 years later Snoop Dogg’s labor of love is thriving, not only producing athletes that have earned full athletic scholarships to college, but a growing number of professional athletes too. This past National Signing Day featured 20 SYFL alumni commit to play Division I football.

On September 28, 2015 Snoop Dogg has announced that a reality show featuring players and coaches from the SYFL will be produced in a partnership between his Snoopadelic Films and AOL.

“The kids I get to mentor through SYFL means more to me than anything else I do,” Snoop Dogg says. “We got kids in the league from all over and the spirit I see from them and their love of the game and life, it moves me. The SYFL is more than just football. It’s about the kids, their families and the life coaching the SYFL provides to the entire community.

I want the world to see their stories, talent and commitment, and now they will through our new series.”

8 shows are planned on being produced to appear online later this year.

According to the official website, the SYFL is a vessel to teach children between the ages of five and thirteen the values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, discipline and self-respect while stressing the importance of academics.

The SYFL also gives its participants the opportunity to learn the values of character, integrity, discipline and teamwork, as well as bringing communities together through a common interest in sports to promote fair play and fellowship.

It is highly commendable for Snoop Dogg to devote so much of his time to ensure that these kids have an outlet, or opportunity to be successful in less than ideal circumstances. In doing so, Snoop has also given himself another chance to show his true character.
