N.W.A Invades NASCAR: Straight Outta Compton Car Set To Race

N W A Invades NASCAR Straight Outta Compton Car Set To Race
Date Posted: Monday, August 10th, 2015
NASCAR has recently come under fire for its fans flying the Confederate Flag, but a new car is sure to turn NASCAR on its head !!

The hip-hop world is in heavy anticipation of the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton” set to release nationwide August 14. In promotion of the movie, Tomy Drissi will be racing a car decked out with the movie logo.

Tomy Drissi will be driving the No. 26 Straight Outta Compton – The Movie Toyota Camry for JGL Racing in Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series Zippo 200. The black and white paint scheme is promoting the Universal Pictures movie about the seminal 1980s rap group.

A NASCAR race may seem like an odd venue to promote a film about the seminal gangster rap group, but Drissi is not the ordinary race car driver.

Drissi, 56, has been drenched in the auto-racing and film industries and has combined the two several times before. Born in Hollywood, Drissi is an accomplished road-course driver who is occasionally brought in by NASCAR when it visits venues like Watkins Glen International.

Drissi has driven cars that advertised films like The SpongeBob Movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It is safe to assume that his Straight Outta Compton car has to be the coolest car set to make a run thus far.

The road-racing champion is very excited to be back on the NASCAR track.

“This is racing at its best,” said Drissi. “The NASCAR guys are a great community . . . they really treat you like family. And the racing is as good as it gets. They race hard and they race you clean. You can’t ask for a better opportunity.”
