Master P s Family Empire Will Combat Negative Sterotype Of Fox s Empire

Millions of viewers tuned in weekly to watch Lee Daniels‘ salacious, breakout hit “Empire” which chronicles a hip-hop mogul who is trying to set up his music business to pass on to his family.

Reelz has revealed that they are ready to show audiences the real thing. The network has signed on Master P for “Family Empire”, an unscripted series that will focus on the rapper/producer as he balances his life between the music business with is five children, aged nine to 25, set to premiere on Saturday, November 28.

Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, rose to prominence during the 90’s with his No LimitolschoolMasterP Records and has sold 75 million records.

Although Master P is known for gangster rap, and is actually catching a second wind with a new wave of younger rappers, “Family Empire” is on a mission to prove that reality TV can be positive and cool.

“We’re about to make it cool to watch good, positive, family TV,” Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, said in a recent interview. “The Kardashians are entertaining, but what we’re doing is positive entertainment, which is supposed to not be cool. With my family, we’re going to make it cool, because we’ve been cool our whole lives.”

The show will follow the single father as he navigates raising his youngest boys Hercy 12, and Mercy, 10, while his older children continue to carve out their own entertainment careers. His oldest son Romeo, 25, transitioned from a teeny bop rapper and former Nickelodeon star to an actor and businessman. Veno, 22, is a model and his daughter Cymphonique, 18, is a Nickelodeon star and aspiring singer/songwriter.

“Master P is a true American success story, rising from the most humble of beginnings to the top of the entertainment world completely on his own,” said Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of Reelz. “The Miller family’s infectious chemistry, genuine love for each other and commitment to working hard and following their father’s rules makes them as relatable as they are entertaining.”

One similarity between Daniels’ show and Master P’s show, is the fact that P is really a father on a empire cast mission to create generational wealth, but makes it clear with his children that “I’m your father, not your friend.”

“Whatever the stereotype of what a hip-hop family looks like, we’ll show them what it do look like,” Master P said, acknowledging the reality could come as a surprise to fans of his music.

“My music is hard and street, but me, I’m more of a laid-back guy,” he said. “The music is like my job, but when my job is over, I come home and am a dad to my kids, like Arnold Schwarzenegger in ‘Kindergarten Cop.'”
